Mondays can be a little painful to move from the weekend back to work mode, so I want to share a motivational item every Monday to kick start our week. It’s not necessarily going to be about living on one income, although I hope more often than not that it will tie in with that theme. This is motivation in the form of a quote, a story, a video, or an article or book that I’ve read that will maybe give you something to think about, enjoy, and get us going on a Monday, especially on those rainy Mondays.
I learned a really quick meditation technique a few years ago from another blogger, Jennifer Boykin, at Life After Tampons, now Devotion Marketing that is so easy, yet helpful. When things start to feel somewhat stressful, stop for about 30 seconds, and just listen to all the sounds around you. Sit quietly and note to yourself each and every sound you can hear. Try to list about 10 things that you are able to hear. This technique seems to bring you back to focus and removes all the negative thoughts from your mind. So, for Week 8 of our 10-week challenge, I want you to try this technique. I find it is such a quick but effective way to de-stress in such a short span of time. It also makes you aware of all the other sounds going on around you that we typically block out as white noise. For me, it slows my breathing and calms me.
So, Week 8 is to try this easy technique and let me know how it helps you, or if it doesn’t work for you, let me know as well. While you are at it, have a look at Devotion Marketing. I have been following Jennifer for some time now, since the beginning of her Life After Tampons blog, and she has some pretty insightful tidbits everyday that usually resonate with me and a lot of other people.
