“Once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey.”
—– Pat Conroy
It’s so amazing when you travel somewhere that it lives on in your mind. The picture above is part of the coastline of Funchal, Madeira where my husband and I spent 3 gorgeous weeks in May of this year. When a vacation is amazing and the sights are so many to see, you can’t help but think about it during your days, daydreaming almost, wishing you could be back there even for just a short time.
The scenery is what captivates me the most with Madeira. Born from a now dormant volcano, everything rises up from the Atlantic Ocean to the topmost peak. The sides of the mountains are coated with thousands of red-topped homes with lush greenery filling in the spaces in between. I loved spending time down here by the water. I think I could have spent all day by the water. For now, I guess I’ll have to play the sound of the ocean over and over again “in the quietest chambers”.
