Mondays can be a little painful to move from the weekend back to work mode, so I want to share a motivational item every Monday to kick start our week. It’s not necessarily going to be about living on one income, although I hope more often than not that it will tie in with that theme. This is motivation in the form of a quote, a story, a video, or an article or book that I’ve read that will maybe give you something to think about, enjoy, and get us going on a Monday, especially on those rainy Mondays.
This is Week 9 of our 10-week challenge. I would like to make you aware of another way to de-stress and relax from your day. Crafting. Sounds silly maybe, but there have been more and more studies that crafting can help with stress. Whether it be painting, drawing, crocheting, wood crafting, pottery, sewing, quilting, or for me, knitting. I absolutley love to knit and have found that it takes me away from my daily tasks for a short time. It’s almost as if my mind can shut down for a bit, and I only concentrate on the stitches on my needle. There have been many articles written and studies performed on this subject indicating that crafting allows the mind to achieve a state of calm similar to meditation, especially with repetitive movements like knitting.
For me, I even began an Etsy store, OliviaShirlee, where I enjoy making items to sell.
For Week 9, if you don’t already craft in some way, I would like you to seek out a craft that you would like to try. Even colouring in adult colouring books has been shown to calm your mind. If you do craft, let us know what hobby you enjoy and how it makes you feel when you are crafting.
